Birmingham Actionnaires
What have Birmingham Actionnaires been up to lately?
Birmingham Actionnaires moved from it's usual Saturday slot, to a Friday when we joined up with LOOK, a national charity who work with children/young people and their families.
Through joint working and LOOK's hard work we had managed to secure a day of water based activities. With the Olympics rapidly approaching the group took part in Rowing and we unearthed several future Steve Redgraves.
Through the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) we were able to take part in Sailing using specially adapted boats, on a warm but blustery day sailing conditions were good. There were twenty children who took to the water, with 16 being visually impaired. Families stayed on and some also took the opportunity to sail!
All in all a fantastic day was had by all the children. Thanks must go to Vicky, LOOK and Fiona from the sports team who displayed a great sense of balance on the water, and helped enormously!
